GUWAHATI: The Autumn Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly (ALA) is going to start from Monday amidst utmost precautions because of the corona pandemic.

COVID tests for Assam Legislative Assembly Secretariat employees, legislators and reporters who are to cover the Assembly session have been underway since Friday last. On Sunday, three legislators – BJP's Lohowal MLA Rituparna Baruah, AGP's Naharkotia MLA Naren Sonowal and AIUDF's Hailakandi MLA Anwar Hussain Lashkar – tested COVID-19 positive.

So far, 29 people's representatives of the State, including members of parliament, tested COVID-19 positive. A few days back, among others, former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, Congress MLA Ajanta Neog, AGP MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita and BJP's Birbhadra Hagjer tested corona positive.

According to sources, only legislators, Assembly Secretariat employees and reporters who have been found corona negative in the latest drive of testing will be given access to the Assembly Session.

The Assembly Secretariat has been thoroughly sensitized.
