Vehicle-lifting racket busted by Special Task Force in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: At a Special Task Force (STF) sting operation, a group running a car racket was busted on Friday night. Allegedly, the mastermind behind the racket is Muzakir Hussain Borbhuyan from Hailakandi, who along with his accomplices Tarifur Rahman from Boko and Hafizur Rahman from Barpeta have been taken into custody. A ten-wheel truck (AS 01 LC 0197), stolen from Beltola parking and a dumper (AS 01 KC 6067), stolen from Basistha, were recovered from their possession. According to STF sources, Muzakir and his team used to temper with thesis and engine numbers, which they renewed through DTO and resold. A case (2/19 u/s 379/411/468/471 IPC) has been registered against them.
