Vested groups spreading rumours: Indigenous Forum of South Assam

CAA IN BARAK VALLEY

GUWAHATI: The Indigenous Forum of South Assam (IFSA) claimed on Tuesday that the actual views and stand of the indigenous people of Barak is not properly reflected among the people of Assam.

Addressing a press conference at Guwahati Press Club on Tuesday the IFSA alleged that a vested interest group is indulged in misadventures and that this group is spreading rumors that the indigenous of Barak valley are supporting the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act).

Addressing the media persons Advocate Mohammad Ali Laskar said that the indigenous of Barak are against the CAA. He added, “Even though the people of Barak Valley are staging protest against the CAA. Due to strict administrative rules the protestors are unable to organize massive protest.

Appealing the people to be cautious regarding any kind communal issue, IFSA said that a group of people are indulged in misadventures and they are trying to communalize the anti-CAA protest going on in Barak valley.

Indigenous Forum of South Assam leadership said that “We’re observant of the conspiracy that may invite social, cultural and geographical damage to Assam. The indigenous of Barak will always extend their support to anti-CAA movement. We condemn the oppressive policy of the government and we also appeal the government to announce them as martyrs who met unfortunate death in the anti-CAA agitation.” The forum further said that it’ll take initiative to form Swahid Bedi in memory of the martyrs of anti-CAA agitation.
