Victor Das under interrogation: It might be a publicity stunt, says Special DGP GP Singh

GUWAHATI: Pan Bazar police have been grilling Victor Das on his allegation of a 'backdoor appointment' racket in connection with the recently held recruitment examinations for Grade III and IV posts.

Regarding Victor's social media tweet, Special DGP GP Singh said, "When the examination was underway, Victor Das claimed 100 per cent of the questions in the examination were what he had taught in his coaching centre. I asked the Kamrup-M and Kamrup police to look into the matter. We have asked Victor Das to provide evidence regarding his allegation of a 'backdoor appointment' if any. He, however, has not given us any evidence buttressing his allegation. It might be a publicity stunt. What I know till date is the examination is 100 per cent clean."

According to police sources, Victor Das is still under interrogation to ascertain if he has any evidence. The police seized his mobile. "We have cross-checked on what basis he had made the allegation. We took him to places that he mentioned during interrogation. We have not found any evidence backing his allegation. We are still investigating his allegation. If we don't get any concrete evidence, we will act against him," a police source said.

Speaking to the media Victor Das said, "What I alleged is not without evidence. I will provide all that evidence to the police. Since I have guts, I made such an allegation."
