GUWAHATI: Inspired by the famous call of Swami Vivekananda, “If a child cannot go to school, the school must come to the child”, the Ekal Abhiyan is trying to reach the villages and areas of the country which are yet to experience the benefits of development.
To commemorate the Birth Anniversary of its role model Swami Vivekananda on 12 January, Ekal Abhiyan will celebrate “Ekal Week” from January 6 to 13, across the globe. As part of this Ekal Week, a Walkathon titled “Walk for Ekal” shall be held at Guwahati on Sunday, 13 January 2019 at 6.30 am from Assam Engineering Institute Ground Chandmari and will proceed to Latasil Field via Silpukhuri. The Walkathon is to support the cause of rural development of India and to keep the ideals of Swami Vivekananda alive.
