GUWAHATI: Various organizations and parties in Assam have been in a spree to file FIRs in various police stations in the State against Garga Chatterjee, a resident of Kolkata, for tweeting derogatory remarks on Swargadeo Chaolung Sukaphaa.

While on behalf of the Law and Legal Affairs Department of the State BJP its State convener Benudhar Nath filed an FIR in this regard at Dispur police station, the Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad filed such an FIR with the Crime Branch of Guwahati Police Commissionerate. The All Assam Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Birthday Celebration Committee also filed an FIR at Paltan Bazar Police Station against Garga Chatterjee.

"We think he has some hidden agenda, might be political, and he by stating such statements is trying to incite communal tension in the state of Assam among people belonging to different caste and creed. We from our committee strongly condemned such acts and appeal to the government to take stern legal action against Garga Chatterjee," said committee's general secretary Rajib Das.

According to police sources, the team of police that had gone to Kolkata on Friday took help from West Bengal Police to arrest Garga Chatterjee. The arrest warrant to the police was sent on Saturday. Since a suo motto case has been registered in the Crime Branch, all FIRs in that connection will be clubbed with that.
