Weavers of Assam Should Capitalize South East Asian Markets: Sarbananda Sonowal

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal requested the weavers of Assam to weave cloths to capture markets of 13 nations consist of 10 South East Asian Countries and three BBN (Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal) countries, as the government is always there to play the role of catalyst in this regard.

Inaugurating the second Weavers’ Convention-2019 at Amingaon in Kamrup district on Friday, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that Assam weavers who are famous for weaving dreams on their looms should explore and capitalize markets of 13 countries inhabited by 80 thousand crore consumers to sell their products. Lauding the creativity of the Assamese weavers and high demands of their products, Sonowal said that if they (weavers) produce cloths using the latest technology they can create high demands throughout the 10 South East Asian Countries and three BBN countries.

It may be noted that around 35 thousand weavers from eight districts have participated in the weavers’ convention which was organized by ARTFED. MLA Nalbari Ashok Sarma, MLA Dudhnoi Dipak Rabha and a host of dignitaries were present on the occasion, stated a press release.
