Wild elephant creating havoc under Rani Forest Division

GUWAHATI: A wild elephant has been terrorizing the villagers of Patgaon village under the Rani Forest Division for the past several days. The wild elephant that came out of the Rani Reserve Forest has been destroying various plants, including banana, jackfruit, areca palm, coconut, etc., in search of food. The wild animal has been visiting the village every night and causing massive damage to property. Apart from the plants, the elephant also damaged the boundary walls of several houses. The local people tried to chase away the elephant by busting crackers, but failed. It even charged several people who were passing through the area at night, causing the people of the village to live in fear for their lives soon after nightfall.
