Will the road leading to Guwahati Central Jail be ever improved?

GUWAHATI, July 9: Perhaps, we all haven’t experience how lives go on inside the jail. However, we can manifest how much smooth and solitary the road leading to a jail is. Leaving aside various jail, investigative agency officials and relatives visiting the inmates, commoners plying on the road connecting the jail is obviously rare. Nevertheless, a rare plying can capture the whole landscape.

Although remained dilapidated for several years, due to rare plying of the commoners, the decaying road condition leading to Guwahati Central jail diverting from NH-37 near Lakhara has been out of attention and consequently lacks restoration. Under this given situation, the road is abandoned only to sustain further decay.

According to source, the Guwahati Central jail authority has appraised the condition of the road to the local administration as well as Public Works Department (PWD) several times. Despite their repeated pleas, none of the line departments have stepped up measures to restore the road for which, the road is deteriorating. Presently, there are huge potholes filled with rain water and mud that causing hardships in regular carrying of inmates to the court. Question remains, will it remain a safety passage for carrying the inmates?
