Woman Dies After Being Stabbed, Daughter In Critical Condition

GUWAHATI: A sensational murder incident rocked the resident of Botaghuli in Panjabari on Tuesday as a mother-daughter duo was brutally attacked. The mother Urvashi Koibarta, 38, passed away due to multiple stab wounds in her torso. The daughter Thapona Koibarta, 12, has also sustained injuries and is currently under treatment in a private hospital in the city. According to Satgaon police, at around 10 pm on Tuesday, a six member group entered the Koibarta’s residence and stabbed Urvashi multiple times with a sharp weapon. Upon hearing the commotion, Thapona came out to her mother’s rescue when she too was attacked.

When the locals got wind of the horrific incident, they immediately contacted the police and admitted the duo to a private hospital but the mother was declared dead. Thapona is under critical condition. The police started investigation right away and soon after, arrested Sabitri Roy, who were found outside the hospital in which the victims were treated. The main accused Pronita Das was arrested from Borbari on Wednesday. With both the accused arrested, their minor daughters were also picked up. Meanwhile, Urvashi’s brother Binod Bezbaruah has lodged an FIR (193/19 U/S 147/ 148/ 149/ 458/ 325/ 326/ 302) at Sathgaon police station.
