Woman held in jobs-for-cash case in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A team of the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) from the Hatigaon Police Station on Wednesday arrested one Jina Begum @Bharti @ Bina Baruah from 6 Mile on the charge of having taken money from some people in 2020 by promising to provide them with jobs under the State Government.

Police sources said that the arrest was made in connection with a case (474/2022) that was registered on the basis of complaints lodged by three persons.

The sources said that Rs 1.97 lakh in cash, some fake appointment letters and various order letters of the Social Welfare Department were seized from Jina Begum's house.
