 GUWAHATI: A two-day workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Healthcare was organized by the Department of Computer Science and IT (CSIT), Cotton University. The event was held on June 27 and 28. The two-day workshop aimed to bridge the gap between computer science and the healthcare industry by exploring the potential applications and benefits of AI in revolutionizing patient care, medical research, and diagnostics.

The event started with a keynote address by Prof. Shyamanta Mani Hazarika, a renowned AI researcher and professor at IIT, Guwahati. Dr. Hazarika highlighted the significance of AI in healthcare, emphasizing its potential to transform the way medical services are delivered. Prof. Ramesh Chandra Deka, VC of Cotton University, expressed that this workshop has been a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration among researchers and medical professionals.

The workshop featured a diverse range of sessions, covering topics such as machine learning in medical imaging and predictive analytics for disease diagnosis, along with a session on cancer awareness delivered by Dr. Tashnin Rahman, HoD of the Department of Head and Neck Surgical Oncology, BBCI, Guwahati.

Dr. Hiten Choudhury, HoD of CSIT at the university, stated that the AI in Healthcare workshop was an exceptional opportunity for researchers, professionals, and students to explore the intersection of computer science and medicine. The convenor of the workshop, Dr. Kangkana Bora, mentioned that this type of workshop can Lead the Way to a Healthier Future with AI, stated a press release.
