World Environment Day: Plantation By NDRF Battalion Across Assam

GUWAHATI: The 1st Battalion National Disaster Response Force, Patgaon, Guwahati observed the World Environment Day on Wednesday with activities ranging from plantation at different NDRF locations including Patgaon, Azara, Mirza (Palashbari), Chansari (Kamrup), Bongaigaon, Silchar, Jorhat (Assam), Agartala, (Tripura) and Lungverh, Aizawl (Mizoram). Other programmes that took place on that occasion include five-km run, cyclothon, debate, workshops, discussions on topics various environment-related topics, a press release said.

More than 400 personnel of NDRF and 100 personnel of local villages participated in environment day campaign with the promise to make a substantial contribution to mother earth. In the programme Mrs Daisy Sastri, the president of NDRF Wives’ Welfare Association, 1st Bn NDRF distributed certificates and gifts to ladies and children who participated in 5-km run, cyclothon, debate, workshop, discussion, drawing, poetry competitions.
