Youth arrested for online fraud by Jorhat police

GUWAHATI: As per the request of the Hatigaon police here, the Jorhat police arrested a youth named Biswa Biraj Bharadwaj (27) from the Dhapkata area of the town on the charge of defrauding people over OLX on the pretext of providing rented houses in Guwahati.

According to police sources here, Bharadwaj was arrested in connection with a case (303/2022 u/s 66 of the IT Act) registered at the Hatigaon Police Station.

The Jorhat police handed over the youth to the Hatigaon police yesterday. He was produced in court today and remanded to judicial custody, the sources added.
