GUWAHATI: The ASDM (Assam Skill Development Mission) organised the 'World Youth Skills Day' at the Assam Administrative Staff College in Khanapara here, on Thursday. This year's theme is 'Reimagining Youth Skills Post-Pandemic' recognizing the resilience and creativity of youth overcoming the pandemic crisis.

In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared July 15 as the 'World Youth Skills Day', to celebrate the importance of equipping young people with skills for employment and entrepreneurship.

Speaking on the occasion, Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said, "The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the dynamics of education. In the modern times, formal education hardly has the value, it used to have earlier. The future depends only on skill. Today, education demands attention to technical and vocational skills for employment and entrepreneurship. Our nation's strength lies in the talented pool of our youths.

The immense potentiality of the youth, if properly channelized, will help in the development of our country for next coming years and make India the skill capital of the world', said Minister Patowary.

The Skill Minister stated that the 21 st century will be dominated by Information Technology (IT), Internet of Things (IoT), Internet of Everything (IoE), stated a press release.
