100 per cent success rate by Snehalaya inmates

GUWAHATI, June 2: The word 'sneha' means affection or love and the word 'alaya' means home, thus 'Snehalaya' means a home of love or affection. It is rightly said that 'love makes the world go round', and an instant instance of this saying is 'Snehalaya', a home of orphans active in Assam, that has scripted a record 100 per cent success rate in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examition. The HSLC results were declared by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) today.

The State 'Snehalaya' has every reason to celebrate as the success rates of its inmates in the HSLC examitions this year is 100 per cent, 70 per cent in first division and 30 per cent in second division.

Five of the ten inmates of the Home took the HSLC examition from Soram Higher Secondary School, Bharalumukh in Guwahati, three from Gopal Boro Higher Secondary School, Guwahati and one each from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Hojai and Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Goalpara.   

All the five students who took the HSLC examition from Soram HS School passed in first division. While Emradul Islam secured 70 per cent marks with letter in Social Studies, Dipak Sarma secured 65 per cent, Sankar Das secured 65.9 per cent, Bijay Kahit got 66 per cent with letter in woodcraft and Michael Boro got 66 per cent.

Of the three inmates of the Home who took the HSLC examitions from Gopal Boro HS School, only Rita Gaur passed in first division, while Priya Chetri and Pinky Chetri passed in second division.

Of the remaining two, while Ashok Tirkey passed the examition in first division with 69.9 per cent and letters in English and Computer Science from Don Bosco HS School, Hojai, John Paul passed in second division from Don Bosco HS School, Goalpara.
