13 families evicted from Sopur

DIMORIA, Nov 4: As many as 13 families, reportedly hailing from a sar, were evicted from government land at Dhangiri (No. 2 Siakhaiti) village under Sopur Revenue Circle today. They, as the Revenue officials claim, have no valid documents with them and they have come from a sar area. The evicted families, however, claim that they have been living at the place for many years, and that they have been evicted without any prior notice. When this correspondent asked Revenue Circle Officer Munindra th Gte on the matter of notice to the 13 families, he said: "The department doesn't have to issue any notice to evict people encroaching upon government land. Moreover, we have dismantled their dwelling houses in parts and asked them to leave the place within three days."
