GUWAHATI, March 28: The number of educated unemployed in Assam, as on December 31, 2017, is 16,65,866. The break-up of this is – 16,576 postgraduates, 3,17,824 graduates, 5,67,340 High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) holders and 33,092 other technical postgraduates, degree and diploma holders.
State Skill Development Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary informed the State Assembly of this in his reply to a question from AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam on Wednesday. According to the information revealed by the minister, the employment exchange offices in Guwahati and Jorhat have been upgraded as model career centres under the tiol Career Service Scheme. The employment exchange centres at Silchar, gaon and Haflong, accoding to the minister, are now being upgraded as model career centre. He said other employment centres in the State will also be upgraded as model career centres in phases.
