GUWAHATI, Sept 30: The Assam Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Board (AUWSSB) staged a two-day dhar at the AUWSSB head office at RG Baruah Road from September 29 to 30 in support of their various demands. AUWSSB employees' association general secretary Arup Jyoti Das said: "The 462 employees of AUWSSB are on the verge of losing their livelihood after the shifting of the major schemes like Zoo Road water supply project from AUWSSB to the Guwahati Jal Board (GJB). The shifting of the major revenue-earning scheme from the board to the new Jal Board has brought a major fincial crisis to us as direct revenue is the only source of our income. In the shifting of the scheme, AUWSSB maging director Sad Kalita and others are involved. We, therefore, demand necessary actions in this regard as soon as possible, and to remove Kalita from the post. We also demand regularization the jobs of temporary employees of AUWSSB."
