203 accidents during Holi

GUWAHATI, March 3: Merrymaking and accidents often go together, and Holi, the riot of colours, is no different. The two-day Holi celebrated in the State had celebrations, but not without a paying a heavy price in the form of accidents.
According to information from Mrityunjay 108 Emergency Service of the State, it extended medical services to as many as 69 cases of road/traffic accidents in the State, including 18 in Kamrup(M) alone on March 1. On March 2, it extended service to 134 accidents in the State, including 20 in Kamrup (M). 
Apart from accidents, the Holi witnessed violation of traffic rules in city and elsewhere in the State. In Guwahati, traffic police detected as many as 1,083 cases related to violation of traffic rules, leading to the realization of Rs 2.11 lakh as fine, besides registering 470 non-FIR cases during the last two days. This part, the police also seized 135 driving licenses for drunken driving.
