21,000 bottles of phensedyl seized

GUWAHATI, Oct 24: City police personnel and sleuths of the Crime Branch seized 69 sacs of phensedyl containing 21,000 bottles worth Rs 1.30 crore from a truck near Sarusajai Stadium in the city last night. The truck had 200 bags of onion, and the drugs were concealed under the onion sacs. The drug was bound for Tripura. According to sources, the onion-laden truck that had left for Guwahati from Sangsari on October 19 was hijacked by miscreants. The owner of the truck, Hardhan Dutta, lodged an FIR with Bashistha police station stating that the hijackers demanded Rs 15 lakh against the truck. The police arrested the driver by playing a trick and recovered the truck.
