23 Bihu committees boycott Zubeen Garg

GUWAHATI, March 29: As many as 23 Bihu committees under the Brihattar Guwahati Bihu Sanmilani Samanyrakshi Samiti have decided to boycott singer Zubeen Garg in this Bihu season. The Samiti said that on March 27 the singer made a comment that ‘if any Bihu committee compels him to wear dhuti while performing, he will make committee members’ dhutis down’. The Samiti said today that it never issued ‘dhutis’ as dress code for Bihu function. “What we said is only modest Assamese tiol dresses for committee members and artistes as well,” the Samiti said, and added that the comment from the singer compelled them to take such a decision.
