340 AIBP schemes to be completed by March: Dutta

GUWAHATI, Dec 17: State Irrigation Minister Ranjit Dutta has announced that the 340 Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programe (AIBP) schemes that are underway in the State will be completed by March next year. The minister today reviewed the progress of irrigation projects under AIBP – the Kumarpith Gulipather Accelerated Irrigation Project in Kamalpur LAC and Chandra Accelerated Irrigation Project under in Jalukbari LAC. In the Rs 29-crore Gulipathar project with the target of irrigating 1,900 hectares of cultivable land Rs 18 crore has been released along with the work orders. In the Rs 29-crore Chandra Project with a target of irrigating 16,000 hectares of cultivable land work order worth Rs 21 crore has been announced. While 30 per cent work of the former project is over, the latter project has 20 per cent work done. Top officials of the department were also present at the meeting.
