3D printed Durga idol in city puja mandap

GUWAHATI, Sept 22: The Athgaon Sarvajanik Durga Puja Sammitti has this year planned to celebrate Durga Puja in complete eco-friendly way. In a unique concept marrying art and science, the Athgaon Sarvajanik Durga Puja Sammitt will host a digitally sculpted goddess Durga and her family, courtesy the application of 3D printing technology on paper.

The pandal is totally made up of bamboo and all the bamboo is brought from Kolkata. Electrical appliances like bulbs and tubes will also be designed in an eco friendly way and all the products are brought from Kolkata. The Durga Idol is of 30 feet and the total budget of the Puja is more than 15 lakh. “More than 1500 bamboos were used and like every year this year also we are with new concept of 3d effect looks of the idol. More than 400 workers are busy working to complete the pandal. Even the clothes which were used for Durga idol will be fully made by mud there will be no use of plastic or clothes,” said Vikash Jha, a member of the Puja Committee.
