3rd convocation of down university held

GUWAHATI, Sept 7: The third convocation of Assam Town Town University was held at Panikhaiti recently with university chancellor Dr. rendra th Dutta presiding over the meet.

State Science and Technology, Information Technology and Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta graced the occasion that was attended by Padma Shri Dr. Krishswamy Vijay Raghavan, FRS, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology as the chief guest.

The chancellor highlighted the ongoing projects for developing the infrastructure of the University. He informed the audience that from 2012 the University has started the 100 per cent scholarship scheme for meritorious students belonging to families with very less income and announced that over 200 such students are presently pursuing various courses in the University.

Then the degrees for the Doctor of Science and Doctor of Literature (Honoris Causa) have been conferred.

Tapash Choudhury from Mechanical Engineering Department has received the award Assam down town University Gold Medal 2016 in recognition of his outstanding performance throughout the duration of the course.
