5373 loans disbursed under PM’s Mudra Yoja

GUWAHATI, Dec 7: Reaping dividends of the initiative taken by Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, 5373 loans were disbursed to weaker sections of the society under the Prime Minister’s Mudra Yoja yesterday synchronising with the 62nd death anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar yesterday.

It may be noted that Governor (Prof.) Mukhi took keen interests to bring the general public living in the far flung areas into the normal banking system through the Prime Minister Mundra Bank Yoja. He also directed the banking institutions both public and private to disburse the loan credits on the day of the death anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar.
In pursuance of the Governor’s keen desire, the bank branches were requested to adopt a resolution to extend loans to three specific beneficiaries under existing guidelines Mudra Bank Yoja on 6 December 2017. Following the guidelines each bank disbursed loan to three beneficiaries, one belonging to Scheduled Caste category, second beneficiary is a woman and the third beneficiary belongs to the Scheduled Tribe category. In case there is no tribal beneficiary then a member from the Other Backward Classes is preferred to own the loan. It may be noted that loans were given only to those beneficiaries who have not availed any loans earlier. It is in such a manner that it was proposed that the Mahaparinirvan diwas would be commemorated in the State of Assam.  The loans were given under Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yoja in a move to give a sigh of relief to the small and margil entrepreneurs to give access to banking system, loans, insurance and other fincial products that were considered backbone of any business.
