GUWAHATI, Sept 24: The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court on Saturday remanded Pulin Gogoi, the prime accused in Hotel Sun City suicide case, to six-day police remand.

The Dispur Police took custody of Gogoi from their Dibrugarh counterpart this morning and produced him before the CJM in the afternoon. The Dispur police sought 14-day police remand of the accused.

Gogoi was arrested by Dibrugarh police from an isolated house of a TE estate near Moran on Friday early morning.  Meanwhile, Gogoi told media persons that he had no role in the suicide of Prasanta Kumar and his family including sister-in-law Amika Kalita. “Prasanta had an affair with Amika and due to this, there were disputes between him and wife Pompi Kalita which eventually led to the suicide of all the four including his daughter Megh,” Gogoi told reporters.

Police sources revealed that Pulin Gogoi confessed during interrogation that he had taken money from Prasanta Kumar. “The accused confessed that he had taken money from Kumar on business ground and not to give job as reported,” a police source stated. Several people, who owed money to Pulin Gogoi, thronged the Dispur Police station today after he was brought to the station.
