80% schemes proposed in Budget are new: Sarma

GUWAHATI, Feb 16: State Fince minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that 80% schemes proposed in the State Budget, which was tabled on the floor of the Assembly on February 7, are new.

“80% new schemes have been proposed in the 2017-16 budget and 20 % schemes proposed in the budget are from earlier budget. Accordingly the budget allocations have been made,” said Minister Sarma.

Speaking at a party workshop at ITA centre at Machkhowa in city, Sarma said this.

He said that the budget has been prepared for the benefit of all section of people irrespective of rural and urban areas of the State.

Sarma said that as many as 10,000 self-help groups in the State will be provided with Rs five lakh each.

He further said that tractors will be provided to 22 thousand villages in the State.

“One tractor will be provided to each group comprising ten unemployed youths in a village. The government will provide 90% subsidy to these tractors,” he said.

The Fince minister informed that fincial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each will be given to unemployed youths who want to go for business venture while Rs 2 lakh will be given to youths who want to develop their existing business.

KCC card holder farmers with zero bank balance account will be given Rs 3 thousand each, Sarma added.

The Fince minister sought cooperation from the party workers for implementation of the budget schemes.

State BJP president Ranjit Dass in his speech said that the party will held meeting with the respective department for implementation of the budget.

The workshop was attended by the president and secretaries of 30 district committees of the State BJP besides other office bearers.
