A jourlist should be impartial: Choudhury

GUWAHATI, Nov 16: It was indeed a happy accident for Mr Jyotilal Choudhury, an English professor, to be a jourlist. The veteran jourlist said today that he had become a jourlist accidentally. His valuable contribution as a jourlist essentially makes his ‘accident’ a happy one.

The veteran scribe was one among the six prominent jourlists who were felicitated at the state-level celebration of the tiol Press Day in Guwahati today.

“A jourlist should be objective and impartial,” Choudhury said, while giving an account of his career as a jourlist.

Choudhury, who was an English professor, has been serving as a jourlist for decades. His writings continue to fill pages of leading newspapers. He is one of the front men of The Sentinel.

With internet boom nowadays it is not at all a problem for a jourlist to get information he/she needs. Till some decades ago getting information was indeed a tough job for a jourlist. However, veteran jourlist Choudhury is known for his archival activities that add value to his reporting.
