A Tribute to Rajib Kumar Bhuyan

A Tribute to Rajib Kumar Bhuyan

People say nobody can predict the future. But it seems, it was our beloved Rajib Da who could win over destiny and accordingly planned at least some of his last moments.

Known for his philanthropic approach toward others, Rajib Da was on his sleep with spotless white clothes and a big Tilak on forehead, as he has just completed a Bishnu Puja along with his wife in a cousin's place, when the death came. The way the end came to Rajib Da on August 22, Monday, it seems he was all aware of it and he was calmly waiting this to happen from his bed.

A perfectionist in ture and a man with tremendous sense of humour, Mr Rajib Kumar Bhuyan (58) alias Rajib Da was working as the Superintending Engineer in the Department of Water Resources, Government of Assam till his last breath due to cardiac arrest.

During my association with him over last two decades as my brother-in-law, we have seen him closely associating with various socio-cultural organizations of the city. His close association with the down-trodden section of the society was clearly visible when hundreds of his friends and well-wishers from different sections of the society waited till the completion of the cremation of their beloved "Rajib da" in vagraha crematorium in the wee hours of Tuesday (August 23), which is really not a common sight in the busy city life.

An alumnus of Assam Engineering College, Cotton College and Cotton Collegiate HS School, Bhuyan leaves behind his wife Seema Rekha Bhuyan, Additiol Secretary, Department of Home, Government of Assam; a son and a daughter; his brother Dr Sanjeev Bhuyan, HoD, Department of Orthopedic, GMCH; along with a host of relatives of well-wishers.

Today, on the occasion of his Adya Shradha, I pray to the Almighty for eterl peace of the departed soul.
