AADHAR enrolment works set in

GUWAHATI, Sept 15: The process for AADHAR enrolment has been set in with the State General Administration Department (GAD) asking the deputy commissioners of the State to identify places for the setting up of AADHAR enrolment centres in the State. Simultaneously, the process for the selection of AADHAR enrolment agencies is underway.

Reacting to a short-notice question from AGP MLA Phani Bhushan Choudhury, on behalf of the GAD Minister, State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary told the Assembly on the last day of its session on Friday: “The deputy commissioners have been instructed to identify spots for the setting up of AADHAR enrolment centres at various places in the State. The work for data collection is going to start in December this year. Works for the selection of AADHAR enrolment agencies is also underway. A State AADHAR implementation committee headed by the Chief Secretary has already been set up. The DCs have been deputed as district identification officers (DIOs) and they have been told the role they are to play.”

Patowary said: “The GAD has drafted a Request for Quotation (RFQ). Views from the Fince Department, Law Department, IT Department etc., are being taken now. After getting responses from the departments concerned, the GAD will go for the fincial bid in which only AIDAI-authorized agencies can vie for the contract.”
