GUWAHATI, Dec 16: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has sent missives to Assam Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal and Prime Minister rendra Modi signed by the hundreds – a missive from each regiol unit of the students’ body signed by 100 noted persolities – with the save-Brahmaputra outcry.
In consonce with that All Guwahati Students’ Union (AGSU) sent a missive each sighted by 100 noted persolities to the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister on Saturday though the Kamrup(M) Deputy Commissioner. AGSU president Rojmil Ali and general secretary Raifuddin Ahmed said that turbidity of Brahmaputra waster is a gigantic tural disaster. “The Centre and the State Government must do all to protect the water of the mighty river, the lifeline of Assam. The Centre is yet to take any step to protect Brahmaputra water from pollution. Had there been such pollution in the Ganges, the Prime Minister would have been very prompt to send a central team there. He would have taken the issue to the intertiol level. What has made Modi fall short of showing that sort of promptness in the case of Brahmaputra water? The Centre has taken a number of projects concerning the Ganga. We’ve nothing to say against that. However, what made the Centre to treat the Brahmaputra with a step-motherly attitude?”
