AASU team visits Bezbaroa's Sambalpur house

GUWAHATI, Sept 23:   A six-member team of AASU led by vice president Pulak Chetia today visited the Sambalpur (Odisha) residence of Lakshmith Bezbaroa, the doyen of Assamese literature. Bezbaroa stayed at the town of Sambalpur for 20 years from 1917 and 1937. During this period, the master litterateur produced the bulk of his literary works which shaped modern Assamese literature. The residence of Bezbaroa is in a dilapidated condition and lands have been encroached upon. The AASU team has visited the residence for taking steps for its preservation.  The AASU has demanded to convert the buildings into a heritage house.
