AASU wants more seats in colleges

GUWAHATI, June 29: The Director of Higher Education has asked all principals of degree colleges to inform it along with action taken report by 12 noon on June 30 on increasing the number of seats in their respective institutions. The Director feels that a large number of HS passed students may not get seats in colleges due to shortage if seats.

Meanwhile, the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) today wrote to Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to increase the number of seats in HS and degree colleges, taking classes in morning or evening shifts apart from the regular shifts, etc. The students’ body also urged the government to make all wherewithal and infrastructure available for it.
