ACP seizes 1,000 litre kerosene from Sopur

DIMORIA, July 3: ACP Chandra Sarma of the city police today seized 1,000 litres of kerosene from the black market at Samata in the Sopur area where kerosene was being sold in the black market under the very nose of the Sopur police.

According to sources, the local people informed higher-ups in the administration of kerosene being sold in the area in the black market, but to little avail.

Acting on a tip-off the police today seized the kerosene from the house of Arun Sarma. The kerosene was kept in as many as 10 drams on a Max car (AS-01-DD-6281). A youth, Arman Hussain, was also picked up in this connection. The kerosene has been kept in Sopur police station.

According to sources, Puti Sheikh, son of Arman Sheikh of Samata, has been black marketing kerosene in the area for a long time. The local people also allege that Puti brings kerosene from 15 Mile Area and adulterate it with diesel.
