AGP huddles together Lefts, regiol forces for 3rd front

GUWAHATI, March 2: Apprehensive of the BJP’s juggerut in Assam after the two massive wins in elections in the state, followed by leaders of other parties joining it almost every other day, the AGP, Left parties and other regiol parties of the state huddled themselves together at a meeting today and decided to prepare a common minimum programme so as to bring all anti-Congress and anti-BJP forces in the state together for a third front.

The meeting that was held at the AGP head office at Ambari in the city today was presided over by AGP president Atul Bora. Besides those of AGP, the meeting had representatives from the CPI(M), CPI, CPI(ML), Ga Shakti, HSPDP, SP and the NCP.

The meeting also decided to fight against the anti-people policies of the Congress and the BJP. The meeting also decided to set up policies to keep the constituent parties together to form a third front as an altertive to the BJP and the Congress in Assam. Terming the Congress corrupt and the BJP betrayer, the meeting decided to stage a protest demonstration in front of the State Assembly on March 11. They also decided to hold a mass convention against, what they said, anti-Assam Budget tabled by the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre and to mobilize support against the ‘anti-Assam policies’ of Prime Minister rendra Modi.   

Besides Atul Bora, the meeting was attended by AGP leaders Phani Bhushan Choudhury, RN Kalita and Durga Das Boro; CPI(M) leaders Hemen Das, Suprakash Talukdar and Isphakur Rahman; CPI leaders Dhrupad Borgohain, Bhogeswar Dutta and Munin Mahanta; Ga Shakti’s Ranuj Pegu; HSPDP’s Chandra Mohan Terang; CPI(ML)’s Pankaj Das, SP’s HRA Choudhury and NCP’s Ripunjay Bora, Prabin Barman and Tribeni Chakraborty.

Meanwhile, the AGP decided to stage Dispur Challo on March 3 from Khapara against, what it said, the Congress’ misrule and corruption in Assam and the BJP’s betrayal to the people of the state.
