AGP offered only 22 LACs by BJP?

By our Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, Feb 19: The BJP in Assam has still kept a faint hope alive and kept its door open for an alliance with the AGP even as the regiol party has made it clear in no uncertain terms that it will go it alone in the Assembly election. While the AGP maintains that it has been given very less number of the seats by the BJP, the leaders of the Saffron party said that the regiol party was offered adequate number of seats. Though neither of the two parties disclosed the number of seats offered to the AGP, The Sentinel  received a report that the BJP offered the AGP only 22 seats – horkotia, Amguri, Khumtai/Bokakhat, Dergaon, Barhampur, Chhaygaon, Boko, Bongaigaon, Uttar Abhoyapuri, Tezpur, Barpeta, Biswath Chariali, Lakhimpur, Kaliabor, Paneri, Kalaigaon, Barama, Chenga, Pub-Bilasipara, Mankachar, Dhing, and Rupahi. Once the AGP-BJP relationship was such that the AGP played the role of big brother, but now the party’s popularity is such that it has been offered just 22 LACs by its ‘young brother’. Even though the AGP says it has given up all hopes for the lop-sided alliance,  the BJP says that it will let its door remain open for the AGP till the last date of filing of nomition papers.
