GUWAHATI, June 16: The All Guwahati Students' Union (AGSU) has condemned the authorities concerned for not being able to solve the mece of artificial floods in Guwahati.

In a statement issued to the press today, AGSU president Rajmil Ali and general secretary Raif Uddin Ahmed said: "Guwahati Metropolitan is without any guardian now. The authorities concerned want to get rid of their responsibilities by passing the buck on others. What are the programmes and steps taken by Dispur that has proposed to project Guwahati as a smart city? Even as the city denizens pay taxes, the GMC can't solve their problems. The GMC wants to wash its duty just by disposing garbage. Whenever, any VVIP visits the city, the authorities concerned just go for a facelift of roads and their sides by painting. They want to limit their development activities to that only. The leaders of all the political parties are one and the same as they hardly do anything for the development of the city. The need of the hour is that the government and its various agencies should work on a war footing to solve the problem of artificial floods for once and for all."
