AHRC orders inquiry against DCP

GUWAHATI, April 21: The Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has ordered an inquiry into the conduct of Guwahati East Deputy Commissioner of Police Hemanta Das, who allegedly entered the residence of one Kshiroda Das without any women police personnel on the night of May 14 last.

Hearing a complaint filed by Kshiroda Das, the AHRC on Thursday ordered Executive Magistrate of Kamrup Metro Sharmistha Bora to conduct an inquiry and submit the report within 10 days. In her complaint, Kshiroda Das, a resident of Ganeshguri Chariali had alleged that DCP Hemanta Das entered her house on the night of May, 2015 at 9.45 pm, without taking any woman police personnel with him in the absence of her husband and son and had physically tortured her, her daughter and her daughter -in law.
