GUWAHATI, May 21: A slew of demands, in sync with the poll promises of the BJP, have been awaiting Prime Minister rendra Modi in Assam.

The Prime Minister is set to address the tion from a podium at Khapara in Guwahati on May 26.

In a statement issued to the press today, AIUDF’s Barpeta MP Siraj Uddin Ajmal said: “The NDA government being led by the BJP completed three years in New Delhi and the BJP-led coalition at Dispur completed a year. Both the governments assured equal development for all regardless of caste, creed or religion based their ‘sabka saath, sabka vikash’ policy. However, this hasn’t been reflected on the ground. I myself visited Barpeta district and found that the implementation of Central Government schemes hasn’t been as they should have been. No development scheme reaches the flood-affected areas and areas inhabited by the minorities in the State. Right from connectivity, education, health facilities, power connection and supply, transportation, drinking water facilities these areas are lagging far behind. The condition of the farmers is no better.  They have been afflicted by various problems. The government doesn’t see these poor farmers who fail to get the right prices of their produce with compassion.”

The MP further said: “The Prime Minister is set to address tion from Guwahati on May 26. We want the announcement of a special package for Assam at the speech, besides according tiol problem status to floods and erosion in the State. I’ve been visiting Barpeta and launched a number of projects, including the Rs 1-crore boulder pitching of the embankment of Beki river and releasing Rs 10 lakh for the construction of a raised platform for providing shelter to flood-affected people at No. 2 Sasara GP.”
