Ajmal faces 'jakat' swindling charge

GUWAHATI, Jan 25: The All Assam Goriya Yuva-Chatra Parishad (AAGYCP) has alleged that AIUDF president Badruddin Ajmal collects huge amount of ‘zakat’ (cash being doted by rich people belonging of Islamic faith all over the world) through Ajmal Foundation but uses the amount in his persol business, instead of spending them for religious activities.

Zakat is a mandatory process for Muslims in order to physically and spiritually purify their yearly earnings that are over and above what is required to provide the essential needs of a person or family.

In a statement issued to the press today, AAGYCP general secretary Moinul Haq reacted sharply to the recent, what he said, commul statement, made by Ajmal, and said: “The statement made by Ajmal is highly condemble. Ajmal is not the guardian of the Muslims. We’ve nothing to say in his political activities. We, however, want to warn him not to do politics on religion. He has been using the ‘minority status’ as a political weapon. Besides indulging in family-centric politics, he has been swindling huge amount of ‘jakat’ that he collects through Ajmal foundation. Even as jakat is meant for religious development, he uses the funds in his persol business empire. If Ajmal has guts, he should declare the amount of ‘jakat’ he has collected so far. There’s no room for commulism in the land of Sankardev-Azan Fakir. Ajmal should tender a public apology for his commul statement.”

Meanwhile, the members of the AAGYCP burnt an effigy of Ajmal at Ambari in protest against his recent statement.
