GUWAHATI, Nov 10: All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) president Badaruddin Ajmal has welcomed the initiatives taken by Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal in terms of developing Dhubri district and lower Assam as a whole.
In a statement, Ajmal said that he expressed his agreement with the Chief Minister’s intentions in fulfilling many old demands of lower Assam, especially of Dhubri district, such as construction of Dhubri-Phulbari bridge over the Brahmaputra, revival of Rupsi Airport etc., which he had made public a meeting at Bilasipara in the past.
Ajmal said that he had been constantly been raising these demands ever since he had become a Member of Parliament in 2009. In this regard he had been in contact with both previous and current prime ministers in his capacity as a parliamentarian during this period.
Ajmal expressed his contentment towards both the Central and State governments for their initiative.
