Ajmal raps Centre on Tripple Talaq

GUWAHATI, Nov 22: Skeptical of, what it said, the Central Government’s interference on Tripple Talaq, the Assam State Jamiat Alama has said that the Uniform Civil Code can never be accepted on religion.

In a statement issued to the press today, State Jamiat Ulama chairman Badruddin Ajmal, who is also an MP from the State, criticized the Centre’s interference on Tripple Talaq. He said: “This is not a creation by the man. Only the Alims and Ulamas of the Muslims can take a decision on this issue. Already the Muslim Persol Law Board and the All India Jamiat Ulama have made their stands on the proposed Uniform Civil Code clear. Under no circumstance, can the Jamiat Ulama tolerate interference on the Holy Quran and Hadis. In a country-like India where people of all faiths live together without interference on each other’s religion the proposed Uniform Civil Cod can’t be translated into a reality.”
