AJYCP opposes Citizenship Bill

GUWAHATI, Dec 20: Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba-Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) has gheraoed an effigy of the Prime Minister of India statewide in its token protest against the move to get the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Bill.

The Parishad staged protest in all district and sub-divisiol headquarters in the State on Wednesday against the Centre’s move to get the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Bill in Parliament. In a statement issued to the press on Wednesday, AJYCP president Putul Dutta and general secretary Palash Changmai said that the move was being made by the BJP to protect its electoral base.

According to the Parishad, already staggering under the heavy burden of foreigners Assam is in no way in a position to shoulder the burden of any more foreigners. In district and sub–divisiol headquarters in the State on Wednesday, AJYCP members staged dhar and shouted slogans against the Citizenship Amendment Bill. They rubbished the policy of according citizenship to foreigners based on religions they preach.
