Akshaya Foundation's vehicle for carrying meal

GUWAHATI, April 26: The Akshaya Patra Foundation provides school meal programme to government to school children where underprivileged families send their children. The programme started in 2000 in Bangalore is today feeding 1.5 million Children across the country. Akshaya Patra began its operations in Guwahati in February 2010 and now they are feeding a hot nutritious hygienic mid-day meal to 52,000 children in 593 schools every day, a press release said.

In an official function held at the Akshaya Patra Foundation Kitchen premises at Amingaon here today, a food distribution vehicle to carry meals for 2,000 children in the radius of 20 km was flagged off by the senior officials of Cara Bank, Guwahati.  

Mahesh Kumar Singh, General Mager, Cara Bank, Bangalore said: “It’s a very pleasant and satisfying experience at Akshaya Patra. The noble work done here has really gladdened me. The process is so scientific and maintence is very hygienic. I am proud to contribute a bit to this great movement”.

Swami Jardha Dasa, president, the Akshaya Patra Foundation-North East Region, has appreciated the generous dotion and thanked Cara Bank officials for their support.
