GUWAHATI, Dec 9: Subhas Chandra Roy, a person who had been declared a foreigner by lbari Foriegner Tribul in 2013 and kept in detention, filed a heavious corpus in Gauhati High Court demanding Rs 4.50 lakh compensation from the government for, what he calims, illegally detaining him. He has been in a detention camp since November 28, 2016. Despite moving the Gauhati High Court challenging the FT’s ruling, the high court did reject his plea earlier. He was also on record moving the high court to review its ruling in the aftermath of the notification issued by the Centre in 2016 on foreigners (minorities in the neighbouring countries) entering India under religious persecution or otherwise. That plea was also rejected by the high court. Now he has moved the HC with a heavious corpus demanding compensation stating that his detention is illegal.
