GUWAHATI, Sept 12: Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) Maging Director AP Tiwari has said that all ASTC drivers will have to face test again.
“I’ve serious doubts that many of the ASTC drivers aren’t fit to drive,” Tiwari said while talking this reporter in his office today.
The ASTC MD said: “ASTC has 226 regular drivers and 1,522 contractual drivers with it. The drivers will be called for the fresh test in phases. If any of the contractual drivers fail to qualify the fresh test, they will be relieved of their jobs. If any if the regular driver fails to qualify the test, they’ll be given more chances. The process will start after the Viswakarma Puja. I also want to streamline the Corporation.”
Tiwari said that no private bus counters would be allowed to be set up offices within a diameter of 300-500 metres around any ASTC counters or yards. He said all ASTC campuses would be kept clean. He said that more stress has been laid on time-table of ASTC buses plying all over the State. He said that tweeter and facebook pages of the corporation would be opened soon so as to let the public raise their grievances. Two WhatsApp numbers of the Corporation would also be opened, he added.
