All's not well in ARTFED

By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, June 19: "The government is trying to interfere in the selection procedure of board of directories of ARTFED, which was selected through a democratic way and under supervision of Handloom and Textile Department (HTD) Department," alleged ARTFED's new Chairman Dinesh Deka at a press conference in the city today.

Deka said: "After about 40 years of the establishment of ARTFED, a cooperative society of the state government, the first general meeting was held in last year for selection of new board of directors. Under the supervision of HTD chief executive Debakumar th, the election procedure was organized in a completely democratic way and they selected a board of directors with 15 members. But now, the government is trying to cancel this board by showing some illegalities during the procedure, which is merely fake. They sent us a letter on June 15, 2015 and informed us that a review would be done. Therefore, we oppose this allegation of the government and demand the government to cancel this move as soon as possible."
