Amendment to Citizenship Act to prove disastrous: Sachar

GUWAHATI, Feb 12: Justice (retd) Rajinder Sachar has said that if the Bill to amend the Citizenship Act gets its passage and becomes an Act, it will make the situation dangerous for the country, besides destroying both language and culture in Assam. Talking to newsmen in the city today, the retired judge said: "According Indian citizenship in the me of religion is totally against the Constitution of India." He condemned, what he said, the harassment on people in the me of detection of foreigners. "Detaining people doubting their tiolity, tagging people as doubtful voters etc., are unconstitutiol. If they're foreigners they should be deported as per the existing procedure," he said.
