AMP to organize public meeting on Sept 19

GUWAHATI, Sept 17: The Asom-Miyan (Asomiya) Parishad (AMP) is going to organize a public meeting on September 19 at Guwahati Press Club to protest against the recent decision of central government on Hindu Bangladeshis. AMP general secretary M Mohor Ali said in a statement today, “The central government decided to give shelter to around 50 lakh Hindu Bengalis coming from Bangladesh on or before December 31, 2014, which we strongly protest. The government took this decision for vote bank coming from those people, but which will create much chaos in the state.” He further added, “As one of the indigenous group of the state, we strongly protest this suicidal step of the government and organized many protests in various places of the state. We, therefore, are going to organize an emergency public meeting on September 19 to discuss about what should be the role of our people to save our identity and state, which will be attended by senior jourlist Kaksen Deka, Lakmindan Borah and intellectual Udayaditya Bharali.”
